Made In Roath
Made in Roath – about us
Made in Roath was conceived in June 2009 by a small group of Roath based artists who share a love of their community. Since then, through the enthusiasm, generosity and creative vigour of the Roath and wider Cardiff community, the project has evolved, and firmly established its position in contemporary Cardiff’s cultural calendar.
Made in Roath is committed to supporting the many local businesses and initiatives who have worked in partnership with us and whose efforts help to make Roath the unique and wonderful place that it is. We welcome new ideas and partners to work with – if you think you’d like to get involved, or would like to offer your support, you can email us (madeinroath[at]gmail[dot]com) and we will get back to you to as soon as possible.
As well as using the many established galleries and art venues in Roath, one of the festival’s primary aims is to take art out of the gallery and into the wider community, allowing a larger and broader audience to access the plethora of creativity, originality and diversity in our neighbourhood and in Cardiff’s wider arts community.
During the build up to the festival in October, the website will be regularly updated as events and exhibitions are confirmed. MiR practices an ethos of absolute inclusivity and we endeavour to accommodate the broadest possible range of submissions to the programme. Our aim is to do this whilst also maintaining standards of excellence that reflect the flourishing contemporary art scene in Wales.
In October each year, resident and visiting artists present their work in domestic, commercial, public and sometimes overlooked spaces in the area. Look, listen and explore, and you will find art, in all its many, different forms, all over Roath.
