Inkspot’s new community events space

Inkspot Arts and Crafts in Roath, Cardiff

Inkspot Arts and Crafts on Newport Road has been running since 1986 and will be closing their retail floor to refurbish and open up as a community events space in May. Speaking to Andrew who runs Inkspot, he explained that making these changes were due to a decreased demand for arts and crafts supplies in the area and a surge in interest for studio and community spaces. Inkspot is already home to 24 studios and a gallery so by closing the retail section they can now open a large open plan community space and tutorial rooms.

They’re pulling up the carpet, laying down wooden floorboards and expect to open this floor again in mid-May when they will announce their upcoming programme of events. Interest in this new space has come from welsh language classes and out-of-school art education so there are already some sessions in place that the local community can look forward to. There are also plans to open up Inkspot’s garden so that classes can expand outside in the summer too. Andrew will be emailing out further details closer to the opening date so if you wish to be on their mailing list (or to enquire about renting spaces) you can email him at info[at]inkspotartsandcrafts[dot]com.

Inkspot are currently having a large sale on their retail products this weekend and will be open on Saturday (2nd) 9am – 5.30pm and Sunday (3rd) 10am – 4pm. The sale offers are from 25% – 50% off all arts and crafts before they close for refurbishment on Monday. Their final 2 day sale includes paints, canvasses, pencils, pens, needlework, yarns, stamps, beads, paper craft, clay and much, much more…
