Exhibition: Drawn Out: SHO Gallery

Drawn Out exhibition detailsYet Another Collective presents ‘Drawn Out’ an exhibition of illustrated type, in the Upper Gallery at The Sho, Inverness Place, Roath. The opening evening is Friday the 19th from 5:30pm – 9:30pm and the show runs until the 4th October.

Yet Another Collective is a merry band of illustrators and designers based in Roath. The collective was brought together and formed as a platform to run events and exhibitions to showcase their shared love of sign writing, calligraphy, hand lettering and illustration. With previous individual exhibitions throughout the UK and Europe, Drawn Out will be their first collective exhibition.

The core collective members are Andrew Purnell, Emma Tickner and Matt Joyce.

Andrew Purnell started doodling as soon as he was trusted with a crayon…and hasn’t stopped. From early on he developed a love of type; inspired by refined graffiti letter forms through to traditional sign writing techniques. Today he continues to document, develop and learn as much as he can, working in every medium possible and never being restricted by a specific style.

Emma Tickner is a designer, calligrapher and illustrator. Her love of hand drawn type started when her art teacher first taught her how to carve a bamboo pen and has continued ever since. She mainly works with a dip pen and ink.

Matt Joyce is a designer and illustrator. Working with both traditional and digital media, his approach combines simple bold illustrations with his design sensibilities. His love of drawing has led his work to end up on books, t-shirts, badges, posters, toys and in various exhibitions.
