Cardiff MADE: Creative responses to dementia

Thanks to Esyllt George of Cardiff Met University for this guest post.

“A day’s event ‘Creative Responses to Dementia’ will be held at Cardiff MADE Gallery on Saturday September 6th. Proceeds from the day will go to Crossroads in the Vale Charity, who support people living in the community who have dementia.

The event will start at 11am and go on throughout the day and evening. It will include an art exhibition and art auction; creative activities such as collage making, movement, and laughter yoga; reflexology and foot baths; creative writing and an open mic spoken word performance in the evening.

Everyone is welcome – members of the public; those with dementia; carers; artists; local businesses; students; and professionals working in the field.

The event has been organised by me, Esyllt George, Creative Industries Career Adviser at Cardiff Met University, with volunteer assistance from students and graduates from Cardiff Met.

‘Dementia affects so many people; creative community events and activities help to share ideas, developing positive relationships inspiring people to work together.’”
