Exhibition: From the other side at Cardiff MADE

From the other side exhibitionZoë Gingell of Cardiff MADE is pleased to welcome the Kings Road Artists Studios to the gallery for their exhibition, and has sent us a statement from the artists.

From The Other Side brings artists from Kings Road, located in deepest, darkest Pontcanna to the other side of town, to Roath. It’s like a school excursion, getting out of the studio to show as a group that we have a frivolous side, one that usually emerges after many a rainy day and night working in isolation (apart from Kings Road’s resident squirrels!)

As is to be expected, From The Other Side is an eclectic mix, from cosmic moggies rendered in fluorescents and stardust, to more sombre works and studies. Painting tends to dominate at Kings Road, in all its many wonderful expanded ways.

The ‘Other Side’ of the title refers to the geographical upheaval across town, but could also be about the other side of the studio wall.

Kings Road is a sociable place, but the individual studio can be a quiet refuge. The show offers a chance to reintroduce ourselves to each other and to the wider Cardiff community.

From The Other Side welcomes you into Kings Road, with its squirrels, cosmic moggies and eclectic artists, all made possible via MADE, creating the opportunity to forge new relationships between people, places and new ideas.

And then there’s that chicken on a skateboard……..

From the other side opens on Friday 18th July from 6.30pm
