Cyd Cymru collective energy switching for everyone in Wales

You may have seen Cyd Cymru / Wales Together at the Roath farmers’ market in recent weeks.

It’s a scheme being run by Cardiff Council and the Vale Of Glamorgan Council, in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust. The idea is to group together and bulk buy energy, so members get a cheaper price. Collectively, everyone can save more.

The first step is to register interest and provide some information about your energy use. An energy auction will then take place, where energy suppliers will give their best price to everyone that has registered. Next, you will be contacted with a personal offer for you, based on the information you have provided. You are under no obligation to switch, and if you accept the offer, you will be assisted to switch to the new cheaper tariff.

This is the first time a free collective switch has been tried in Wales, and the scheme is backed by the Welsh Government.

Everyone in Wales is welcome to join the scheme, and the more people who sign up, the better discounts that can be negotiated with the energy supplier.

You can register your details by filling in the online form on the website, www.cydcymru-energy.com or calling on 0800 093 5902. For more energy saving tips please visit www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/wales.
