If you heard excited screaming around Roath this morning it was probably us – we’ve just been told that we are the TalkTalk Digital Hero for Wales.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us and shared the voting links through facebook, twitter and further afield.
The funding that we have now won has not only secured the future of our little hyperlocal venture, but means we can launch new projects which we’ve been planning for ages and can expand the scope of what we do for Roath. We could cover all our running costs, give the blog an overhaul to improve usability, expand our Social Media Surgery activities, develop Trade in Roath, and pay for printed publicity (posters and flyers) to be able to engage with people not currently online. Watch this space…
We’ll be off to the House of Commons on 29 October for the UK finals and a chance to win even more funding to put towards the development of RoathCardiff.net. We’re up against 11 regional winners who will now be judged by a panel which include TalkTalk Chairman Sir Charles Dunstone, UK Digital Champion Martha Lane Fox and Mirror Editor-in-Chief Lloyd Embley, who will make the final decision on the nation’s 2013 TalkTalk Digital Hero.
We celebrate our second birthday on the weekend – what a way to celebrate!
Thanks again for voting – wish us luck in London next month!
