It’s time once again for Open Doors Days, and starting this weekend you can visit many buildings in the Roath area that are either not usually open to the public, or which are opening up parts that are often not seen. Open Doors is ‘Wales’s biggest celebration of architecture and heritage’, says the Civic Trust for Wales, who have organised the event on behalf of Cadw and the Welsh Government.
This year there are lots of new buildings included in the programme, and opening their doors for the first time in Roath/Penylan are Roath Court (Summers Funeral Home), St Anne’s Church and St Edward’s Church. Walks have also been arranged in the city centre and Cardiff Bay.
The local list includes:
Mansion House, 7th September
St Martin’s Church, 7th and 8th September
St Peter’s Catholic Church, 14th September
Roath Court, Summers Funeral Home, 21st and 22nd September
St Margaret’s Church, 21st and 22nd September
St Edward’s Church, 21st September
St Anne’s Church, 21st September
St Andrew’s URC, 28th September
Check the opening times and dates before visiting, as they all vary, and booking is required for some. You can find the complete Cardiff programme here, and the full Wales programme is available here.
