As a family raised in the Roath area, we have seen lots of changes to Albany and Wellfield Road, and regrettably the loss of a local florist. Our aim is to bring back a little more choice at affordable prices, and add a splash of colour to Penylan Road.
We are currently stocking fresh and silk flowers, house and garden plants and a range of gifts. Our ‘Extra Mile’ gift wrapping is free and available for all items bought at The Courtyard. We deliver flowers locally for a charge of £3.50. This service is for arrangements and bouquets that cost a minimum of £15. There is no delivery fee for funeral and wedding orders.
We also stock a selection of gift cards created by our resident artist, Malcolm Lewis (aged 81). These cards depict Welsh sea and landscapes, and local scenes that include the Civic Buildings, Roath Park Lake, the Norwegian Church, Penarth Pier and Pavilion. Presently we are developing our upstairs gallery.
It is early days for us, but we have already had tremendous support from local shopkeepers and we would also like to thank the customers that have supported us in our first few weeks of business. We thank them for the many compliments we received regarding the European feel of our shop.
This is no coincidence! Anne has recently returned from a 5 year stay in France where she provided a Home Staging service, using her interior design skill and experience. Anne has worked for Marks & Spencer and Dixons as part of the display teams and has arranged flowers for various florists in Cardiff since the age of 13.
Sophie graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a degree in Art & Creative Writing. She now focuses that creativity on the design and promotion of The Courtyard. Sophie is a keen cyclist but has sacrificed her bikes so that they can be used to advertise the florist at either end of Penylan Road.
As we are situated back from the main road, we use the bikes adorned with pink ribbons to guide customers to us! We hope you can find us soon to come say hello!
