Papergirl Cardiff Rides Again!

Flushed with the success of Papergirl Cardiff 2011, the innovative free art and cycling project returns to Cardiff this weekend.

Organised by Cardiff’s social design group thinkARK and Cardiff-based Cycle Training Wales, Papergirl Cardiff is an unusual combination of art and cycling, and is open to all to take part.

Having spent months collecting art submissions from anyone who wanted to take part, the Papergirl Cardiff 2012 Exhibition opens this Saturday, 26th May, at arts collective and community resource, The PrintHaus, Canton.

Hundreds of fantastic pieces of art, created by amateurs and professionals alike, have been received by the project team, and will be on show at The Printhaus until Saturday 2nd June.  Art has been sent from countries as far apart as Norway, Ireland, and the United States, as well as many pieces from local artists and designers, and from all across Wales.

After the exhibition, the art will be rolled up, ready for the Papergirl cyclists to give out to members of the public – for free – during the Papergirl ride that will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 4th June.

Papergirl began in Berlin, and has spread across the globe in a wonderful response to their motto: ‘The art of giving art’.

You can see much more about the project on the Papergirl Cardiff blog, including some of this year’s art submissions, and a video from last year’s ride.

You can also donate to Papergirl, buy this year’s t-shirt and register to ride on 4th June on the blog – why not join in and be part of Papergirl this year?

See the exhibition at The PrintHaus from Saturday 26th May – Saturday 2nd June, follow @PapergirlCDF on twitter, and join them on Facebook for more updates!
