Social Media Surgery movement wins Big Society Award 2012

Originators of the Social Media Surgery, Podnosh, have been recognised in the Government’s Big Society Awards 2012 for their voluntary and community work.

Initially the concept was for a one-off event, but it was so enjoyable and useful, that more Surgeries quickly followed.

Podnosh have been kind enough to recognise the Roath Social Media Surgery, and credit Hannah Waldram (Community Coordinator, The Guardian; formerly Guardian Cardiff) and Ed Walker (Multimedia Producer, Trinity Mirror; formerly Online Communities Editor at Media Wales) for bringing Social Media Surgery to Cardiff.

Cardiff SMS decided to ‘go local’ in May 2011, when the Roath, Adamsdown and Canton Social Media Surgeries were set up.

The next Roath Social Media Surgery is on Monday 27th February, 6-8pm, Pear Tree, Wellfield Road, Roath.
