Roath and the public sector industrial action: Wednesday 30th November

Tomorrow’s strike will affect a number of places and services in Roath, so we are publishing a quick guide to local amenities that will be closed, and guidance regarding the bin collections in the area scheduled for tomorrow.

All schools in Cardiff (except one) and therefore in Roath, will be closed.

Cardiff Bus will not be running any services.

Waste collection

Roath is due to have our black bags and bins collected this Wednesday: bags will be prioritised for collection tomorrow, and bins only if resources are available.  Weekend collections for black bins will take place if they’re not collected tomorrow.

But please remember to take your rubbish in again if it’s not possible for it to be collected – it’s better for all of us that way!  The Council has stated that all waste collected tomorrow might be at a later time than usual, due to the industrial action.

Food waste caddies are being prioritised for collection as normal tomorrow.  However, if the caddies cannot all be collected, there will be more collections for our area on the weekend.

If anyone is receiving hygiene waste collections, these are also being prioritised for collection tomorrow, as scheduled.

There will be no collection of green bags (recycling) this week.  Please don’t put them out, keep them for next Wednesday (7th December).

All Household Waste Recycling Sites, including Wedal Road in Roath, will be closed.

Libraries and Community Centres

Penylan and Roath libraries will be closed; and Plasnewydd Community Centre will be open in the morning only.

These parks in the area will be closed: Shelley Gardens, Plasnewydd Gardens, Waterloo Gardens, Roath Mill Gardens, Roath Brook Gardens, Roath Pleasure Gardens, and Roath Park.  The Conservatory in Roath Park will also be closed tomorrow.
